40 DAY JOURNEY TO SELF REALISATION: STABILITY

Do you want to fancy, flexible, fit? Or do you want to be free?

According to the tradition, the cultivation of stability is the epitome when it comes to our practice on and off the mat. All of the ancient texts in their own way speak to the importance of stability. They say nothing else rivals it when it comes to the fundamental significance. Not until the body and mind are stable does the real world of yoga open up to us.

Just like the sun does not discern what it shines it’s light on, if we build Prana (energy) on an unstable mind, we will amplify the negative aspects of ourself.

“ONCE THE MOON HAS BEEN MADE STEADY, THEN THE SUN CAN BE MADE TO SHINE.”

Yoga begins when we slow down, get steady, and deal with what needs to be dealt with (mostly it’s ourselves). Once the mind has quietened and stabilised, we can catch a glimpse of the aspect of ourselves that exists beyond the mind and all things that change.

Here we can sit in the remembrance of who we truly are, whose home, according to the scriptures, is an almond size flame within the heart called Vishok Jyotir. The light that allows no suffering to enter. Love is our nature, love is the target, stability is the path.

Join us this week to help stabilise the mind, discover who you are, and find that place of no suffering.
