The first four stages of Hatha Yoga—Purification, Strengthening, Calming, and Stability—have been at the heart of our journey so far. These opening weekends of the Yoga Teacher Training have laid a strong foundation, preparing us for what lies ahead.

We’ve explored the Descent of Consciousness, the map outlined by Sage Kapila, and how the full scope of Yoga is essentially a process of reverse engineering this path—guiding our practice toward self-realisation. Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga and Tantra, has provided us with essential wisdom for maintaining a thriving body and a balanced life, ensuring we are well-prepared for deeper exploration.

In these first few weeks, we’ve examined the dual purpose of Asana—cultivating calmness and stability while also managing and directing energy. We’ve studied the Mechanics of the Mind, the Causes of Suffering, the Wheel of Karma, and more. Our exploration of the Vayus—subtle energy currents—has given us practical tools to shift our perception of ourselves and the world around us.

As we move into the next phase of training, we transition into the Solar aspect of practice. Sensitivity to energy, combined with a calm and stable mind, helps us discern what to release and where to direct our focus. Energy is the force that propels us forward.
