Preparing for the seven stages of hatha yoga

After speaking to the Tantric Yamas for the last five weeks, we will take a pause for the Niyamas. Starting from next week (the 27th of February) we will embark on a 40 DAY JOURNEY TO SELF-REALISATION. This journey takes inspiration from the Seven Stages of Hatha Yoga. This week we will use the preparation steps of the seven stages - PURIFICATION and STRENGTHENING - as a focus for practice...

We can look at Purification as a focus on health and system efficiency. Detoxing the body through diet, purification techniques and asana (sweating). Ayurveda plays a big role in bringing the body back into balance. A healthy system is best able to receive the results of practice.

The Strengthening aspect is more about empowerment of both of the mind and the body. Mentally, it's about developing will and discipline. Physically, we use Asana to strengthen the body and the core muscles that support the spine, particularly the lower back and abdominal area.

With these preparation aspects, we set the scene for ourselves to radically evolve and thrive rather than just survive. The studio will be following along through the seven stages throughout the 40 Day Journey. If you wish to dive in a little deeper, commit to practicing everyday, daily journaling and weekly meetings you can still join in the JOURNEY GROUP. There are in studio and online versions.
